About Us
Little Indian Preschool was established in 1973 by Tecumseh parents who wanted parental involvement to be integral to their child’s preschool experience. We are located at 605 Bishop Reed Dr. (off Brown St.) in Tecumseh. Little Indian Preschool rents space in the United Methodist Church.
Our state-licensed program is directed by a qualified teacher, professionally trained in early childhood education and development, and a volunteer teacher assistant. Two parents are scheduled to assist the teacher each day, providing a low adult/student ratio, ensuring individualized attention.
We operate from September to May and follow the schedule of Tecumseh Public Schools.
The preschool is a child-sized world with a variety of developmentally appropriate materials for our students to choose from. Activities such as crafts, music, dramatic play, and physical activities allow children to develop language and thinking skills as well as fine and gross motor abilities. A child’s main business is playing, which offers them the opportunity to learn and lays the groundwork for more specific and formal academic learning in years to come.
Our goal is to provide a stimulating and creative environment that allows children to make many choices and participate at their own unique developmental level, which encourages them to have new experiences and to feel successful. Social and language skills grow as children interact and express themselves in small and large group activities.
*Little Indian Preschool admits students of any race, color, sex, handicap, national and ethnic origin to all of the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools.
