Parents and a well trained teacher working together to provide a quality preschool experience.
Cooperative preschools are organized by families with similar philosophies who hire a trained teacher to provide their children with a quality preschool experience. The preschool is administered and maintained by the parents. The parents assist the professional teacher in the classroom on a rotating basis and participate in the educational program of all the children. However, we also now offer a non-assist option to accommodate families with circumstances that don't allow them to be in the classroom. Each family shares in the business operation of the school, thus making it truly a cooperative venture. Parents, preschool children and their teachers all go to school together and learn together.
We offer the best opportunity for quality individualized attention and communication since we have smaller class sizes with plenty of adults to help. Each child will know he/she is an important individual and you and your child will share together in their first school experience. As research shows, your involvement in your child’s early education will have a positive, lasting impact on academic progress throughout school.
Our safe and friendly environment allows children to feel at ease, encouraging them to be curious and creative. In a developmentally appropriate environment, the student comfortably gains the necessary developmental skills to grow socially, cognitively, emotionally, and physically. Children develop their cognitive and language skills, large motor skills, and are exposed to concepts like shapes, counting, the calendar, and the weather. Our early literacy program gives them a foundation to become successful readers. They learn about their community through field trips, guest presenters, and participation in service projects. Little Indian Preschool's changing classroom themes help students receive a well-rounded preschool experience to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
Your child will be given the opportunity to learn and play both as an individual and as a member of a group, developing his/her verbal and non-verbal communication skills and making new friends.
Your preschooler will do this all in an environment full of encouragement and praise.
There are so many reasons that you as a parent will love the cooperative setting. You get to be directly involved in the decision making processes that mold your child’s school, creating a collaborative environment. By assisting in the classroom, you will have the security of knowing what goes on with your child. Parental involvement and volunteering keeps our tuition low, making quality preschool affordable. You will meet other parents for support, fun and friendship. Plus, you will have wonderful memories of your child enjoying his/her first school experience.
As a parent helper you will be expected to assist at school between one to three times per month depending on enrollment numbers. On your assigned day you will provide a nutritious snack and drink. Participating in fundraising and attending membership meetings, currently this is 1 a year. You are asked to take an active, cooperative role in the operation of the preschool.
